“Wolf Man’s got nards!”
A few months back it was announced that Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes was going to be remaking another of my childhood favorite films, The Monster Squad. The 1987 Fred Dekker flick featured a group of kids who had to face off against some of the most revered classic Universal Monsters. The Monster Squad was tasked with taking down Dracula, The Wolf Man, The Creature from the Black Lagoon and The Mummy.
Fast forward to 2010 and Bay and Co are trying to recapture the charm of the original and bring in fans old and new. The screenwriting duo of Mark and Brian Gunn have been brought in to see if they can accomplish that goal.
Previously the team has written the direct to DVD sequel Bring It On Again, as well as James Gunn’s PG Porn. The two are also currently attached to a sequel for Journey to the Center of the Earth, and Mighty Mouse.
No other news has been announced for the Squad remake, but, given Platinum Dunes’ recent string of yawn inspiring remakes fans should not get their hopes up for anything spectacular.
