applelogo.jpgAccording to Apple rumor site AppleInsider, Apple is set to announce a new lineup of iPods at a media event rumored to be taking place next month. The site says that the new devices will sport design cues from the iPhone and, most importantly, run a mobile version of OSX.

It is believed that Apple could split the iPod family into 4 distinct lines and include major changes to the iPod video and the incredibly successful Nano. The iPods will likely all use flash memory instead of hard drives, and will sport a click wheel instead of a touch screen (bummer). Previously leaked interface video showed an iPod with a GUI similar to the iPhone’s with Leopard style overlays, extensive use of album art, and a better photo viewing function.

Right now this is in the rumor stage, but it sounds believable enough to me.
